Because cosplay is fanart, dammit.
So, who wants to talk cosplay? Because I am tired of cursing at my sewing machine and would love to just chat about cosplay instead of panicking about what I haven't done yet.

What dress are you making and which characters have you cosplayed? Have you ever cosplayed Irene Adler?

sdhasdf I've done cosplay as a middle schooler, but never really took it seriously until now. IDK if I want to cosplay a Sherlock character yet, but my friends want me to do Sherlock. I object, mostly because a) I'm am small mass of 5'0, b) I don't want to go through the effort of hunting down a good coat for him.

I cosplayed as Sherlock once, and I could not believe how EASY it was to find a coat at a thrift store. Salvation Army, Goodwill, whatever, it was so incredibly easy.

Suitable coats are really really easy to find, as long as you're not a perfectionist. Because you'll never find the Belstaff, but you can find multiple black coats, of various weave and size. I'd suggest going in a few months, in fact, and take advantage of the people clearing out their winter closets. I am also a tiny person (whoo 5') but I was able to find both a too-big black coat for Irene-in-Sherlock's-coat and one in relatively my size to add red button holes to because I am that perfectionist.

Ok, so I'm going to MegaCon this month on the 22 and I'm cosplaying Irene and you have no idea how much joy it brings me to say that. But I didn't have the time, skill, or money to make a replica dress like the amazing lyrangalia did. (Totally jealous by the way.) Here is the dress I did get, though, I found it for $18 unexpectedly and thought that it would do the trick. Thoughts? Advice? (Sorry for the horrible picture quality)

Also because I think it would be something Irene would wear ("Would Irene Adler wear this?" would be a question I ask to myself when I pick some clothes lakjdyitad asdhjja v.v ).

(Sorry for the horrible picture quality) I think that dress is just perfect. I've never done cosplay myself--I've tried, but I don't have the patience to look for the appropiate clothes or to do anything with my sewing machine. That aside, any sort of Sherlock related cosplay would go unnoticed around here and there are no con's that I know of besides one in November-December that is more anime-related than anything else.

So this was my favorite for the whole day! It's me and the 10th Doctor (who happened to be a literal 10 if you know what I'm saying). He was so nice! And this one is one that I also love I just akjhksgfk yep. And this last one is me with a couple of friends, the one on the left as fem!Dean Winchester and the one on the right as Molly Hooper.
