I know there are playlists/fanmixes all over Tumblr, but are there specific songs that (when you hear them) just make you think of Sherlock and Irene?
It could be a whole song or just the tune/feel of the melody, or one specific phrase or verse that really fits. Because I know there are a lot of songs I hear where I think "ooo this one part is completely Sherlock and Irene, but then the rest of the song turns into sappy romance and no that doesn't work at all but THIS PART DOES" and also songs I have to turn on if I want to get in an Adlock writing mood.
I'd love to hear if anyone else has those songs that are that way.

Heartlines by Florence and the Machine! That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Kill! Kill! Kill! by The Pierces, especially after watching The Sign of Three, because of: and And I really like the song and all, but I think the sound of it just doesn't suit them

Ooh, yes, a thread for music! This is sort of my division... I've rehashed this over and over and over, but The Sky under the Sea by Pierce the Veil. Or, at the very least, this stanza. And, this line. "Selfish machine" is a way I would totally describe either Sherlock or Irene to be. They're both systematic/cold, and most of their motives can be selfish or for personal gain. I don't know how, I just find that this song works for my own personal perception of the Adlock dynamic, minus the sexy times.

All of me by John Legend
Although I know any of them would exactly say the lines of the song, it doesn't mean they don't feel it right!

Lying is the most fun a girl can have without taking off her clothes by Panic! At the Disco. Every time it plays on my phone, I think about AdLock. I imagine them meeting again and Irene's with someone new and Sherlock's pulled into a mix of emotions.

Oooooh, this post makes me so happy! Thank you, lyrangalia. To make a long story short, my ex-boyfriend and I broke up right before the second series of Sherlock aired on BBC. Even though I was incredibly happy that Sherlock had returned, I was a complete wreck while watching A Scandal in Belgravia because of my personal life and of course, because of the wonderful, heartbreaking, amazingly well-written, and delightfully frustrating relationship of Sherlock and Irene. My girlfriends were already in the process of making me a post-break up playlist, and I realized that a lot of those songs also related to my love affair with Sherlock Holmes and Irene Adler's relationship. Fast-forward to the present day, and I have a monster of a playlist on iTunes that is for me to wallow in my feelings, whenever the mood should strike. It's a 200+ list of songs that are romantic, sexual, angry, passionate, dramatic, soothing, sweet, etc. I don't know well those two would do 'sweet,' to be honest, but it's all in good fun. And of course, some of the songs are just ridiculously fun and funny. For example, I added Get Lucky by Daft Punk on there because that song makes me happy and this pairing makes me happy. (Plus, I think we can all agree they both did get lucky in Karachi). I've seen some of these songs on Tumblr, some on YouTube, and a lot were my own additions and projections of whatever I was feeling that ended up relating. It's got almost every genre I can think of (except American country...I'm sorry, but I'm open-minded to all musical tastes except American country. I just can't.) I think the first song that made me think of A Scandal in Belgravia was Haunt (Demo) by Bastille. The lyrics are so unbelievably perfect that I swear Dan Smith was watching this episode. And of course, the music just breaks my heart in the best way possible. And especially after Irene's little cameo in The Sign of Three, this song is even more perfect (as are many others!) I think what I love best about Sherlock and Irene is that even though they're so deliciously unique as a couple, the sentiment itself is universal. That's why it works so brilliantly well. We've all felt heartbreak to some degree, some form of love, anger, betrayal, resistance to those feelings, whatever-the-case-may-be in our own lives and music is such a common thread. I honestly could go on and on about songs that remind me of this pairing. No, seriously. If anyone wants more music, I'd be happy to write another post with more songs and lyrics! (Except not this long, no worries!) www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqCiypn2ZGA""Haunt (Demo)"
We'll make our agreements, About when to meet, And I'll leave you in the doorway, The cold evening aches, As it leaves in its wake, All the memories left by the day, And I'm questioning why, As you look to the sky, That it's cloudless up above our heads, And thoughts come to mind, that our short little lives, Haven't left the path that they will tread, They will tread
I come back to haunt you, Memories will taunt you, And I will try to love you, It's not like I'm above you,
The wisdom we learn as our minds, They do burn'll, Entice the naivety in youth, As adults will grow and maturity shows, The terrifying rarity of truth, As you turn to your mind, And your thoughts they rewind, To old happenings and things that are done, You can't find what's passed, Make that happiness last, Seeing from those eyes what you become, Well you become
I come back to haunt you, Memories will taunt you, And I will try to love you, It's not like I'm above you,
I will see you there, See you there, See you there, I'll come back to haunt, Memories will taunt you, And I will try to love you, It's not like I'm above you."

Bloodstream by Stateless is also perfection. Absolutely wonderful. I don't think I've ever not felt simultaneously happy and depressed while listening to this song. Too many feelings. www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3b1CDLsiGU "Bloodstream"
Wake up and look me in the eyes again I need to feel your hand upon my face Words can be like knives They can cut you open And then the silence surrounds you And haunts you
I think I might've inhaled you I can feel you behind my eyes You've gotten into my bloodstream I can feel you flowing in me
Words can be like knives They can cut you open And then the silence surrounds you And haunts you
I think I might've inhaled you I can feel you behind my eyes You've gotten into my bloodstream I can feel you flowing in me
The spaces in between Two minds and all the places they have been The spaces in between I try to put my finger on it I try to put my finger on it
I think I might've inhaled you I can feel you behind my eyes You've gotten into my bloodstream I can feel you flowing in me
I think I might've inhaled you I can feel you behind my eyes You've gotten into my bloodstream I can feel you floating in me
